Halcyon Days Consulting, LLC (HDC) is a veteran owned small business that specializes in the design and engineering of Tactical Mission Networks (TMN). This is a unique opportunity to join a small and high-performing team committed to delivering cloud platforms for exciting missions. 

HDC is seeking a Director of Commercial Engineering to lead the development and deployment of advanced cloud platforms that power mission-critical systems across both federal and commercial sectors. This is a high-impact, technical leadership role ideal for a senior software engineer or architect who thrives at the meeting of scalable infrastructure, client engagement and rapid delivery. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 

• Lead commercial expansion to drive business development and strategic partnerships in commercial sectors, especially those aligned with Federal mission needs.
• Bridge Federal & Commercial projects with support tools and platforms used across both domains, ensuring seamless integration, communication and knowledge transfer. 
• Drive platform alignment with emerging commercial opportunities and identify reusable capabilities while implementing infrastructure patterns that serve both government and commercial clients.
• Mentor technical teams, support software development lifecycles, and ensure delivery of high integrity code with minimal room for error. 
• Translate mission needs into deployable solutions while executing rapid patches to deploy fixes that balance stability and delivery speed. 
• Operate with urgency, execute timely fixes, and prioritize real-world needs in high-stake, evolving environments.  
• Architect addled the development of scalable, cloud-native platforms- designed for resiliency, modularity, and disconnected operations while ensuring CI/CD best practices, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and secure SDLC principles are used. 

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud architecture, or network systems.
• Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional technical teams. 
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders. 
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), including networking, IAM, and infrastructure automation. 
• Experience developing mission-critical applications with attention to detail. 
• Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments. 
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and distributed systems. 
• Ability to operate with urgency and act decisively under pressure. 
• Must be capable of both shaping direction and diving deep into technical issues. 
• Strong understanding of data pipelines, API design, and real-time data visualization. 
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java or Rust. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Experience supporting mission applications in DoD, IC or tactical environments. 
• Understanding of federal security compliance standards.
• Background supporting software tools for situational awareness, data visualization, or layered intelligence systems. 

SALARY RANGE:
$180,000-$220,000
This salary range is an hourly exempt (exempt from overtime) position. Benefits are provided in addition to the salary range.
